Elevation Everest offers formats for athletes of all backgrounds - from elite runners to recreational hikers.
Surrounded by the breathtaking fall colors of Winter Park, athletes will take on the ultimate vertical challenge—conquering either half or the full elevation of Mt. Everest. Check out the course map and race details for each format below.
Course Map
Each lap up the mountain is 1,600 ft of elevation gain and 2.2 miles
Base Camp sits at an altitude of 9,100 ft
The top of the course sits at an altitude of 10,700 ft
Every lap starts and finishes in Base Camp
The gondola ride down is 8 minutes
Note: this map does not include the 0.15 miles from the bottom of the gondola back to Base Camp where athletes finish each lap.
Half Everest
All race registrations have the same 17 hour time cap.
Half Everest Solo
Competing solo includes:
10 laps up the mountain
16,000 ft of elevation gain (1,600 ft of elevation gain each lap)
22 miles (2.2 miles each lap)
17 hours to finish
Half Everest 2-Person Relay
Each member completes:
5 laps up the mountain
8,000 ft of elevation gain (1,600 ft of elevation each lap)
11 miles (2.2 miles each lap)
17 hours to finish as a team
Half Everest 3-Person Relay
Each member completes:
3 or 4 laps up the mountain (one member will do 4)
1,600 vertical ft per lap
2.2 miles per lap
17 hours to finish as a team
Half Everest 5-Person Relay
Each member completes:
2 laps up the mountain
3,200 vertical ft of elevation gain (1,600 ft of elevation each lap)
4.4 miles (2.2 miles each lap)
17 hours to finish as a team
full Everest

Competing solo includes:
19 laps up the mountain
30,400 ft of elevation gain (1,600 ft of elevation gain each lap)

1,600 ft of elevation each lap

No - Once the race commences, you will only be eligible for a medal for the race format you registered for. This is similar to how other races operate, for example, if you sign up for a full marathon and only complete 13.1 miles, you don’t get a half marathon medal.

For tracking, finish line, and safety reasons, athletes must complete the remainder of the final lap even though they’ve already accumulated the half (14,516 ft) or full (29,032 ft) elevation of Mt. Everest.
